Buddy Rhodes Water Reducer 555 is a high efficiency polycarboxylate-based superplasticizer in liquid form. It is ideally suited for use when making Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC). Water Reducer 555 has been
formulated to provide maximum workability without segregation to concrete. (Formerly BR Water Reducer)
Adding Water Reducers will increase workability of concrete mixes that have a low water to cement ratio. Maintaining a low water to cement ratio is critical for reaching optimal strength in the cured matrix.
• High workability without segregation
• Very low water/cement ratios
• High early strength and high workability
• Superior finish with reduced surface voids
• Lower SCC viscosity without change in segregation resistance
• Self-placement with no vibration
• High cohesion with reduced bleeding
• No blocking by aggregates through narrow openings
Dosage
Recommended Dosage Rate - 540 to 1400 mL per 100 kg of cement. This is equivalent to a dosage range of 0.5% to 1.4% of cement weight. Dosage rates will vary depending on the materials used, mix design, ambient conditions and the requirements of a specific project. Make test batches of 5-10 kg of concrete until you are familiar with Water Reducer 555's effect on your mix.
Caution - do not overdose water reducers. The ultimate indicator of overdosage is segregation of the mix. Make test batches prior to production to ensure optimum dosage.
Mixing - Water Reducer 555 can be added with the initial batch water, but delayed addition will generally result in optimal water reduction. Mixing Water Reducer 555 with the batch water first yields improved mixing efficiency, while delayed addition allows for fine-tuning of the mix consistency. When adding incrementally, mix the concrete for 2 to 5 minutes before adding more. Adding too much superplasticizer is easy to do, and it can result in segregation.
