U-10 Mold Solution

Description

This solution is designed to seal a variety of materials, including:

• Porous Media: Plaster, cement, stone, and unsealed wood.
• Modeling Media: Sulfur-free modeling clays and wax.
• Hard Surfaces: Metals and rigid plastics.

Its soap-based chemistry allows for easy removal with warm water, restoring the original model surface. The low viscosity ensures it fills pores without obscuring fine textures.

Follow these steps for optimal results:

Preparation

• Ensure the model surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or oils.
• For fresh plaster or cement, ensure it has reached a sufficient initial cure before application.

Application Method

• Brushing: Use a soft-bristle brush to apply a thin, even coat over the entire model and surrounding forms.
• Stippling: For high-detail areas, stipple the brush to ensure penetration into all undercuts and textures.

Drying Time

• Allow the solution to dry thoroughly (typically 15–30 minutes depending on humidity).
• For extremely porous surfaces like dry plaster, a second coat may be required.

Integration with Release Agents

• For silicone molds, apply a light mist of Ease Release™ 200 after drying.
• For urethane molds, it provides an excellent foundation for wax-based release agents.

Post-Molding Cleanup

• After demolding, wash the model surface with warm, soapy water.
• Use a soft brush to remove any residue from deep textures.
• Wipe the model dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Technical Security Note

• Highly effective for preventing "mechanical locking" in porous materials.
• Perform a small-scale compatibility test with unknown substrates or sensitive patinas to ensure no alteration of surface color or finish.
